About the Hotel

21 Lakeshore Drive West, Penticton, Canada, V2A 7M5

Penticton Lakeside Resort has been a prominent feature of Penticton's coastline since its inception in 1982. The resort integrates eco-friendly practices with luxury accommodations, providing unique amenities such as a private beach and an on-site farm. With a modern design utilizing mass timber construction, it stands as a testament to sustainable development in British Columbia. The resort is centrally located on Okanagan Lake, just minutes from downtown Penticton, offering easy access to shopping, galleries, and local attractions. A short drive from the Penticton Regional Airport, the hotel is ideally positioned for travelers. Numerous scenic trails surround the area, providing options for walking and cycling, including paths suitable for pets.

Rooms

Each guest room is designed with large private balconies that offer stunning views of Okanagan Lake and the surrounding mountains. The recent West Wing expansion introduces luxurious rooms featuring environmentally friendly materials. The rooms accommodate pets, allowing travelers to bring their furry companions along. Various options are available, from air-conditioned units to connectivity amenities.

Eat & Drink

The resort houses three restaurants, including the notable Hooded Merganser, which utilizes produce sourced from the on-site Valley View Farm. Guests can enjoy diverse culinary options while overlooking the picturesque lake and valley. Casual dining is also offered at the Bufflehead Café, serving breakfast and fresh baked goods. Menus are designed with fresh, local ingredients and provide vegan offerings.

Leisure & Business

On-site amenities include a fitness center, a swimming pool, and a hot tub, as well as a full-service marina for water sports rentals. The convention center features extensive meeting space with modern audio-visual technology, catering services, and event coordination assistance. Guests can unwind at the private beach, which converts into an ice-skating rink in winter.

Staying on the 2nd floor was a huge improvement with a view of the lake and enjoying a wine tour package. The service was friendly, professional, and service-oriented, although there was some noise from Peachfest acts at the boardwalk in front. The location offers easy access to the waterfront and downtown, making it perfect for exploring the area. Dining at the hooded merganser was amazing, but lacked directions to room and hotel amenities. Overall, a mixed experience with some great positives and a few shortcomings.

I had a mixed experience at this hotel. The rooms were clean and well-appointed with a beautiful view from the 6th floor, but I felt like I could have gotten a similar room for a much lower price at a motel. The location right on the water was great, although the view from my room was of the city/parking lot.

The service was very accommodating, but they made a couple of mistakes with our reservation and check-out dates. They also seemed reluctant to change our room due to an upcoming convention.

The hotel is ideally located for me, with beautiful walks along the lake and close to the city center. My stay was fantastic overall, but it's important to note that it's not very kid-friendly. The direct view over the lake made our visit extremely pleasant, despite the expensive dining options.

Rooms

Facing North looking out towards the steamboat, my room had a defective bathroom door that made it hard to open or close, across from the restaurant side, which led to a poor sleep due to the noisy air conditioner.
Service
7.0
The staff knocked loudly on our door and were very welcoming, offering information about the shuttle to the venue and providing white-glove service. Unfortunately, I found out that room service, car hire, valet parking, welcome drink, pet amenities, and happy hour were not available.
Location
8.0
The location is perfect for me, offering relaxing walks along the lake and being close to the city center. However, it's essential to remember that it's not suitable for kids. The new tower check-in area overlooks the lake and is close to all the activities, although the high dining prices might be a downside.
